See ya, 2006

I must admit that this past Christmas was probably the best one in years. Definitely the best one of my married life.

Jeremy and I have now been married just over 4 years and each of those Christmases have been split between our two families. The hazards of having family in the same town... This has generally led to great amounts of stress and gnashing of teeth and hurt feelings over who gets the bulk of the day. Not that we intentionally spend more time at one place or another, but it happens. The month or so leading up to Christmas generally begins all of this holiday joy with the anticipation of the annual unequal time-share. This year though, there was none of that. No crying, yelling, getting hung-up on, it was great. Christmas day was really great too. We got to see both families, experience both rounds of gift opening, no one had to sit around all day waiting on us and there was no guilt trip! Yipee!

Maybe that's why I didn't feel the "Christmas mood" this year.
